A Personal Learning Network is a network of educators, resources, and tools that individuals can use to build their education platform. It allows you to connect with other educators through different social media platforms to share ideas and receive or give advice. PLNs enable teachers to become lifelong learners by staying updated on evolving education practices and topics. It also allows individuals to expose themselves to new ideas and utilize technology as a tool for learning. A PLN allows educators to continuously expand their learning by connecting to different perspectives and emerging ideas.
This semester I plan on taking advantage of building my Personal Learning Network by following and interacting with different educators and institutions to gain more knowledge on teaching. This will help me be more prepared and knowledgeable about education when I complete my degree. By engaging with experts in education I can learn from their experiences and insights. As well as I can develop a sense of what I believe is important for learning. For example, I can become more aware of ongoing topics and follow accounts on X whose values align with my own. I can also become actively engaged in discussions online about current topics. My Personal Learning Network will allow me to surround myself with educators who are committed to fostering the growth of adolescents.
